Kyle and I were fortunate enough to take a week long cruise to Bermuda earlier this month. Even more fortunate to have Adelyn's Nana and Grandudes (my parents) willing to watch her while we were gone! We were hesitant to leave her for 7 days but we enjoyed some much needed rest and relaxation! From what we heard she was a good girl while we were gone and even enjoyed a special day or two with just her Grandudes (eating chocolate and Slurpees for every meal no doubt).
And we're off! We sailed out of the Port of Baltimore and while
headed down the Bay it looked like we would barely clear the bridge
Bon Voyage!
Formal Night
We wanted to get a few pictures of both of us since unfortunately when we travel together we have mostly pictures of just one or the other and hardly any of us together.
They had us doing some of the weirdest poses so, funny enough, this is the most natural looking one.
At least Kyle is such a stud... how did I get so lucky?! :)
Formal night at dinner
Getting some sun by the pool... pretty much what we did all day each day at sea.
Kyle got me a Kindle for my birthday which I really enjoyed reading by the pool.
The couple that we sat with at dinner asked us every night what we did that day. I'm sure they thought we were boring but that's all we wanted to do on this vacation...
relax and get a little sun!
Casual Night Dinner
If you've never cruised before, let me tell you the ridiculous amount of food that is served throughout the day and how unbelievably delicious it all is! If you know me at all I don't have to tell you that unfortunately I'm one of the live-to-eat types, not the eat-to-live types. At home I try to find a balance but on vacation, with so much delicious food around me, I definitely indulged a little! I think there are some people that ate 24 hours a day but we tried to stick to just 3 meals a day (with a snack here and there) :) Kyle sometimes ordered 2 appetizers and/or entrees and/or desserts for dinner... and ate every bite. Boy do I wish I had metabolism and genes like that! We hit the ship gym a few mornings but I'm pretty sure we only burned the calories from the previous night's dessert... and that's it!
Ok, enough about the food, I'm starting to drool.
Our first day in Bermuda
More relaxing and sun at Horsehoe Bay, Bermuda... perfect!
The pictures don't do it justice! It's a beautiful island with crystal clear water and pink sand beaches. All of the people were very kind and helpful and there's no one at the docks hustling you for a cab or in your face about taking a tour. We've been to some places like that in the Caribbean but Bermuda was so pleasantly different where everyone was so laid back.
Old phone both in Bermuda
See what I mean about individual pictures?
You can sometimes find a kind passerby that is willing to take your picture
Kyle participated in a volleyball tournament on the ship with a bunch of people he didn't know. Their team was called "The Misfits" and they won first place out of about 10 teams.
While sailing home and off the coast of NC there was an aircraft carrier a little ways from our ship. About a dozen jets took off and were flying right overhead while we were on the pool deck. They were VERY loud but it was really cool to watch and definitely something you don't see everyday!
Leaving from Baltimore, Kyle had plenty of people to talk to about the exciting world of Oriole's baseball. Apparently he was the only one staying up late enough to watch the recap on ESPN so he quickly became the go-to guy as far as finding out who won, the game stats and other pertinent information {eye roll}.
We had such a great time! We don't get many date nights together with our crazy work schedules so it was so nice to enjoy "date nights" every night, and actually every day. We definitely missed Addie and the last couple of days just kind of wanted to get home to see her, although we still enjoyed the time. She looked just as happy to see us as we did her as we got off the ship and ran up to the car. For the next few days together she kept saying, "Mommy and Daddy, I'm so glad you guys are home with me", or "I missed you guys." Melted my heart but we felt the same! It was good to come home and thankfully, we had a few days off together to settle back into "real life".
